James J. McDonald, Jr., DMD

Dr. James McDonald was born in Watkinsville, Georgia where he attended the University of Georgia. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 1979. Following his graduation he completed a one year General Practice Residency at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. He then returned to Watkinsville to practice General Dentistry from 1980-1985. During this time, he continued his education by attending courses at the L.D. Pankey and Peter Dawson Institutes for advanced education. In 1986 Dr. McDonald started his Oral and Maxillofacial Residency at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

His training included rotations at Jackson Memorial Hospitals, Miami VA Hospital, Doctor’s Hospital in Coral Gables, FL, and Central Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA.

Dr. McDonald is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as the American Board of Dental Anesthesiology. To keep abreast of latest developments in the specialty he has always exceeded the continuing education requirements of his state and national societies.
